Welcome to Crafty Concessions!  For the past several months I have noticed that more and more people are posting pictures and videos of their craft/scrap/sewing projects in blogs. I toyed with the idea of starting a blog  but I kept putting it off. Working full time as a Medically Fragile Pediatric Registered Nurse, reading, crafts, taking care of a family..I simply could not commit  any time in my busy life to blog. A broken foot and complications have lead me to be home on medical leave for the foreseeable future so, no excuse! My name is April and I am in my second childhood at the age of 44.  I have been married for 11 years to a wonderful man I fondly call Mutty.  We have 5 furbabies with whom we share our home with.  They will visit frequently!

I cannot remember a time when I was not crafting.  The bug hit me young, as a child I drew and did crafts in school and Sunday school.  I believe it was a gene I inherited.  My mother did limited crafting, mostly pottery and sewing doll clothing. She loved to make Cabbage Patch dolls back when they were popular. She did no yarn crafts, but I have several aunts who do. Both my grandmothers left behind quilts and afghans of every color and pattern.  I really did not become a serious devotee until I was in my late 20's.  I had found the nerve to walk away from an abusive marriage and was living on my own for the first time in my life. I lived in an apartment that served as one of the "dorms' for a nearby college.  When the day was through and school work was done, if I was  not working the job I had taken to pay for schooling, I would spend the evening pacing the floor and staring at the tv. My first roomie Janet, decided to teach me to cross stitch. That got the ball rolling!  It was not too much longer and my bedroom was a collection of DMC floss, Aida cloth, and pattern books.  Once I got started I just couldn't stop. Soon I was crocheting as well. As the years passed I added Knitting, Punch Embroidery, painting, cooking, and gardening to my repertoire. I hand quilt and hand sew as well.  I have a wonderful little sewing machine that, since I have at least 4 more weeks, if not more, off I am going to learn to use. So, if you wanna stick around and follow my blog, I would be thrilled as I share products, projects, tips, and  my own patterns with you.
